Custom keychains
Design a keychain from your own name, logo, drawing or photo, see an exact preview of the print, and get it 3D printed in up to 8 real colours. Every keychain is made to order and checked by hand before it prints.
Prices in CAD before tax. A design that fits a size costs exactly that price; very colour-heavy designs and custom sizes are priced from the print itself. You always see the exact price before paying.
Render
Start from a design
Each one opens in the designer with your own text and pictures ready to change. The image is a 3D render of that design exactly as it prints.
A name or a word. The most popular choice: letters cut out as their own shape with a hanging hole, or set on a coin, hexagon or tag. Start with our custom name keychains for ideas, fonts and sizes.
A logo or crest. Upload a logo and every colour in it becomes a solid region of plastic. No minimum order and no setup fee, which is why clubs and small businesses use our custom logo keychains for events.
A picture or drawing. A pet photo, a child's drawing or a doodle becomes a flat-colour keychain with up to 8 colours. Photos are simplified into bold areas, a bit like a screen print. See how on our drawing keychains page.
Sizes, thickness and weight
Keychains come in three size tiers, measured along the longest side: small up to 40 mm, medium up to 60 mm and large up to 90 mm. Most are 2.5 to 3 mm thick and weigh 4 to 12 grams, which is lighter than a metal keychain and won't scratch a phone in the same pocket. The pricing page lists every tier with its exact price.
Each colour is a separate solid piece of plastic fused to its neighbours, so nothing is painted on and nothing can wear off. The surface finish depends on the style you pick: flush (smooth, like a coin), raised (the design stands up so you can feel it) or stepped (each colour is a terrace).
Why 3D printed?
Because it makes one-offs affordable. Acrylic keychains are printed on a flat sheet and laser cut; metal keychains are struck or cast from a mould that costs more than the keychain. Ours go from your design straight to the printer, built up in fine layers and switching colours automatically. Every colour change adds print time, and on a busy design those changes are most of it, which is why a 2-colour keychain costs less than an 8-colour one. Our guide to what multi-colour 3D printing costs shows the numbers.
How we make it
Your keychain is printed to order in solid, durable plastic, in fine layers with every colour running right through. Before it prints, we open your design and its preview and check that every detail will come out: that's the Maker Check. Then it's packed in a padded mailer and handed to Canada Post.
Shipping and timing
We print within a few business days of checking your order. Shipping is a flat CA$19.95 anywhere in Canada, tracked, and several prints share one mailer. Canada Post delivers in about 2 to 9 business days. Details on our shipping page.
Custom keychains: questions
What sizes do keychains come in?
Small up to 40 mm, medium up to 60 mm and large up to 90 mm along the longest side. You can make it any size in between in the designer.
How durable is a 3D printed keychain?
The plastic is stiff and keeps its colour, and our keychains are thick enough to survive daily use on a key ring. It can snap if bent hard, and it can soften in high heat, so don't leave it on a hot dashboard.
Can I put a photo on a keychain?
Yes. Photos are turned into up to 8 flat colours, so they look like a bold graphic rather than a photograph. The preview shows exactly how it will come out.
How long does it take?
We check every order by hand before printing, then print and ship within a few business days. Canada Post delivery takes about 2 to 9 business days within Canada.
Do several keychains cost more to ship?
Barely. Several keychains fit in one bubble mailer, so shipping costs about the same for one or five.
