Photo coin, a custom coin 3D printed in several colours Render

Start from a design

Each one opens in the designer with your own text and pictures ready to change. The image is a 3D render of that design exactly as it prints.

Coins for keeping, giving and playing

People order custom coins for very different reasons. A photo coin is a small keepsake of a pet, a place or a family member. An initials coin with a raised border makes a neat pocket token or a gift for a graduate. Game tokens (+1 counters, life markers, faction tokens) give a tabletop game pieces nobody else has. Clubs and teams use them as an affordable, 3D-printed alternative to a challenge coin when a minted metal coin is out of budget.

To be clear about materials: these are plastic coins, not metal. They are light (5 to 12 grams) and colourful, with each colour a solid piece rather than enamel or paint.

Flush, raised or stepped

The depth style changes how a coin feels. Flush inlays every colour level with the surface for a smooth face, like a real coin; a raised rim around the edge keeps it from scratching. Raised lifts the design about a millimetre so you can trace it with a fingertip, which suits initials and logos. Stepped stacks each colour as its own terrace; it prints fastest with many colours and gives photos a layered, papercut look. You can switch between them in the designer and the preview updates in seconds.

Borders have their own depth too: a raised wall around the edge, or a lowered moat with its own colour on the floor. Small details matter on a 30 to 55 mm coin, so the preview merges anything too fine to print before you see it.

Sizes and prices

Coins come in three tiers by diameter: small up to 30 mm (about the size of a toonie, which is 28 mm), medium up to 40 mm and large up to 55 mm. Every size is 3 mm thick. The price for a design that fits a tier is fixed and shown on our pricing page; ordering a set of game tokens is the same price per piece as one, and they all ship together in one mailer.

How we make it

Your coin is printed to order in solid, durable plastic, in fine layers with every colour running right through. Before it prints, we open your design and its preview and check that every detail will come out: that's the Maker Check. Then it's packed in a padded mailer and handed to Canada Post.

Shipping and timing

We print within a few business days of checking your order. Shipping is a flat CA$19.95 anywhere in Canada, tracked, and several prints share one mailer. Canada Post delivers in about 2 to 9 business days. Details on our shipping page.

Custom coins & tokens: questions

Are these metal coins?

No. They are 3D printed in plastic, with each colour a solid piece. They are much lighter than metal coins and far cheaper to make in small numbers.

Can I make a challenge coin?

You can make a 3D printed alternative to a challenge coin, with your crest, initials or logo in up to 8 colours. It won't have the weight of a minted metal coin.

How small can the text on a coin be?

It depends on the font: every font has a measured minimum height, usually 2 to 4 mm. The designer warns you if your text is too small to print cleanly.

Can I order a set of game tokens?

Yes. Design one token, then set the quantity in the cart, or copy the design and change the number or symbol for each one. They ship together.

What does flush mean?

Flush means the colours are inlaid level with the surface, so the coin face is smooth. Raised means the design stands about a millimetre above it.

Will a photo coin look like a photo?

It looks like a bold graphic version of your photo, with up to 8 flat colours, a bit like a screen print. The preview shows exactly how it comes out before you order.
